Interesting security options there fellas, really enjoyed that part of the show.
You could see that the products that are engineered for the job came out on top so that was good to see. The padlock that retails at £15.98 inc postage was a poor show in my opinion as it is basically a readily available cheap Chinese Ebay Item that is £6.59 with free postage, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motor-bike-container-garage-shed-Alarm-Padlock-110d-bicycle-bike-cycle-lock-65-/201073737565?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2ed0edbf5d putting a Union Jack sticker on it in some attempt to make it look like a british quality product sucks!
Thanks for the reviews and keep up the good work.
Eric
Hiya,
Yep, if you’ve heard the name, that’s because I’m the organiser of the Adventure Overland Show at Stratford-upon-Avon Racecourse. Thanks for attending BTW, but that’s not actually why I’m contacting you. It’s about your test of security devices.
On my Range Rover Classic I’ve fitted a Safe-T-Pedal from Shire Fabrications – see http://www.shirefabrications.com I tell you, an angle grinder won’t touch this baby! However, it seems to me its Achilles Heel may well be the actual lock as tea leaves seem to get past these quite easily. That said, the padlock Shire have welded into the Safe-T-Pedal does appear to be quite hefty, so it would be interesting to see how the shrinking violets from Black County 4×4 deal with this device. So, this is my suggestion should you hold a “security devices test Mk.2”.
And by the way, other than being a customer, I have no connection with Shire Fabrications whatsoever!
Cheers,
Tom Mc
P.S. Keep up the good work, and if I can help in any way in the future, simply ask.

Hi Tom!
Thanks for having us at the overland show we loved it!
We will have a look into do a security mark 2 – as we’ve also had some other devices suggested.
Glad you enjoy the show, no doubt we’ll speak soon
Hi Amy,
Thanks for the reply. No problem and glad you enjoyed the “overhand show”, you’re welcome anytime. For my next Adventure Overland Show, perhaps some sort of prize could be provided (i.e. 6 family weekend camping passes) if you can up with a cunning plan for an innovative competition … something different? I’ll get my thinking cap on!
In what part of the country are you lot based by the way?
The clutch claw isn’t set up correctly and the attack time is false. This would have been explained to the Land Rover Live team if they would have followed through with promises such as “we can undertake to consult with you during the making of the program and up until the time of broadcast” this never happened and now has subsequently resulted in Land Rovers Live team defaming our product. We have offered to set the product up for them and time the attack test, but they so far haven’t responded.
This isn’t strictly true…. At All. But we’ll be bring viewers updates in the coming weeks, with a full response.
Its now February 15th 2015 and I haven’t been able to find any evidence of a re-review of the clutch claw on this site or your youtube page.
I own one myself so I’m concerned about the security of it, saying that theres no way a disklok would beat it.
Hi, If you saw the original review, then we stand by that.I Don’t recall that we suggested that we would backtrack or do a re-review at any point. The decision taken to edit that section out of the show was not taken through any errors. purely a judgement call. But to reiterate, We stand by our findings.
If we had any advice it is the same as we said at the time, Relying on any one device to secure your vehicle is not recommended. All of the devices shown can be seen as a deterrent, and the disclok probably the most effective in that respect purely down to the fact that it can be seen from a distance. This we would surmise would deter opportunists at at least
There are unfortunately some out there that will make mince meat of all security products, our aim was to illustrate that.
If you have a Clutch Claw at present then I would say that thats a good start, but adding to it will always be better- and that goes for all security devices.
